Undergraduate Program Councils
Each undergraduate program council is composed of the following participants:
I – coordinator, as chairperson;
II – deputy coordinator, as vice chairperson;
III – representatives of the academic departments, in the proportion of 1 (one) representative for every department teaching at least ten percent (10%) of the required course load necessary for degree completion, for a term of 2 (two) years;
IV – one faculty representative, appointed by the academic school, for departments that offer required courses in the program curriculum, but don’t reach a 10% (ten percent) participation in the total load;
V – representatives of the student body, in the proportion equal to the whole part of the result of the division of the number of non-students by five, for a term of 1 (one) year;
VI – one or more representatives of class associations in their specialty, for a term of 2 (two) years;
VII – a technical-administrative staff member from the Integrated Undergraduate Office, elected by their peers, for a term of 2 (two) years;
VIII – internship coordinator;
IX – undergraduate thesis coordinator;
X – complementary activities coordinator.
The responsibilities of the Undergraduate Program Council are:
I. establishing the professional profile and educational proposal of the program;
II. preparing its internal bylaws;
III. preparing, analyzing and evaluating the program curriculum and its alterations;
IV. analyzing, approving and evaluating the course syllabi, proposing alterations when necessary;
V. establishing rules for interdisciplinary coordination and promoting horizontal and vertical integration between programs, so as to guarantee their educational quality;
VI. determining the time of day the program will be offered;
VII. establishing rules regarding enrollment and degree completion, observing what has been established by the Undergraduate Council;
VIII. deliberating over requests for time extension for degree completion;
IX. giving opinions over the recognition of undergraduate degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions;
X. deliberating, in the form of appeals, over decisions from the Chairperson of the Program Council;
XI. performing other responsibilities conferred by law, these Regulations or the Program Bylaws.
