Undergraduate Program Coordination Offices

The UFSC Undergraduate Program Coordination Offices are regulated by two main resolutions:

  • Resolution no. 17/CUn/97, of 30 September 1997, which regulates Undergraduate Programs at UFSC;
  • Resolution no. 018/CUN/2004, of 30 November 2004, which alters articles 10 and 11 of Resolution no. 17/CUN/97.

Each undergraduate program coordination office is constituted by:

A coordinator and a deputy coordinator, who will substitute the former in their absences and impediments.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for:

  1. calling and presiding over the Program Council meetings, with voting rights, including casting vote;
  2. representing the Council in other University bodies;
  3. executing the Council’s decisions;
  4. appointing rapporteurs or commissions to examine matters to be decided by the Council;
  5. deciding, ad referendum, in case of urgency, over matters normally within the competence of the Council;
  6. preparing class schedules, taking into account the involved Departments;
  7. guiding students over enrollment and degree completion;
  8. informing to the Student Administration Department (DAE) the courses that will be offered for enrollment in every academic period;
  9. analyzing and deciding over transfer and returning requests;
  10. deciding over requests for payment and waiver of transfer fees;
  11. deciding over requests for educational supplementation and at-home coursework;
  12. transferring students’ course credits from other institutions, observing the relevant legislation;
  13. verifying the completion of the program curriculum and other requirements for the granting of academic degrees to graduating students;
  14. deciding over special graduation requests;
  15. promoting integration among Departments;
  16. enacting disciplinary procedures due to complaints that involve students, in accordance with these Regulations;
  17. coordinating the theoretical-methodological activities of the program’s educational project;
  18. coordinating the restructuring and evaluation processes of the program’s curriculum;
  19. proposing faculty training policies and coordinating their actions;
  20. acting as a correspondent of the Program;
  21. coordinating the biannual alumni survey to keep track of the program’s graduates;
  22. promoting joint actions with the Office of International Relations and the Careers Central at UFSC, aiming towards the participation of students in activities related to the respective areas of competence;
  23. upholding the compliance and dissemination of these Regulations among the program’s students and faculty;
  24. delegating competence for the execution of specific tasks;
  25. overseeing the activities of the Program Council’s secretary;
  26. performing other responsibilities conferred by law, these Regulations or the Program’s Bylaws.
